    I am starting to doubt my own eyes

    My doubt springs not from being unable to process how Kerry could take Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in to a church to make pandering speeches filled with invective and demagoguery from the provably disingenuous, but more from people actually giving this guy their vote without so much as a 'hmm, is that true?'.

    I want to state clearly that I am not describing Kerry as a complete nincompoop as a reactionary, knee-jerk switching on of successful Karl Rove brainwashing. Go ahead, read the whole article. I dare you to apply critical thinking and further research to the article. I DARE you...

    M@ - I read this with great interest, but not from the perspective of the people on the receiving end...but looking at the ones that are 'sending the message'

    how is it that Liberals are able to go into churches and pontificate on these messages...? while Conservatives - if even a trace of politics escapes their lips...are demonized???

    I thought that was interesting too...I noted in the article that "since it was in church" they didn't mention Bush by name. Yet they made it quite clear who they meant, with one woman even doing a physical impression of Bush's walk and referring to him as "the one who swaggers". So I'm sure God was fooled, since no one said "George Bush" out loud. Pffffft.

    Cheers,

    Hey M@. This morning on The Laura Ingraham Show two African-American women called in (separately) to say that the Jackson-Sharpton show in no way influenced them and that they intend to vote for Bush solely on values. Moreover, their respective circles of friends felt the same way.

    Also, Command Post has an anonymous article from a liberal Jewish mother with children living in New York and she is voting for Bush on security. The wider scope of security moms seems to be moving towards Bush as well.

    Certainly anecdotal -- and admittedly far from empirical -- but it appears the three pillars of the Democratic Party a shaking a bit. The election will be close and I would feel a lot more confident if these people spoke out within their communities rather than hiding anonymously, but things feel better lately.

    Cheers!
    Bill

    We are living for free;
    The air is for free,
    The clouds are for free.
    Hills and dales are for free;
    Rain and mud are for free;
    The outside of cars,
    The entrance to movie houses,
    The store windows are for free;
    It is not the same as bread and cheese,
    But salt water is for free;
    Freedom will cost you your life,
    But slavery is for free;
    We are living for free,
